Cookie Policy
This document explains how principled-intelligence.com uses Cookies and similar tracking technologies and how Users can manage their preferences.
Last update: February 12, 2026
Overview
This document informs Users about the technologies that help this Application to achieve the purposes described below. Such technologies allow the Owner to access and store information (for example by using a Cookie) or use resources (for example by running a script) on a User's device as they interact with this Application.
For simplicity, all such technologies are defined as "Trackers" within this document — unless there is a reason to differentiate. For example, while Cookies can be used on both web and mobile browsers, it would be inaccurate to talk about Cookies in the context of mobile apps as they are a browser-based Tracker.
Some of the purposes for which Trackers are used may also require the User's consent, in accordance with the applicable legal framework. Whenever consent is given, it can be freely withdrawn at any time following the instructions provided in this document.
This Application uses Trackers managed directly by the Owner (so-called "first-party" Trackers). Should the Application introduce Trackers that enable services provided by a third party (so-called "third-party" Trackers) in the future, this policy will be updated accordingly.
The validity and expiration periods of Cookies and other similar Trackers may vary depending on the lifetime set by the Owner or the relevant provider. Some of them expire upon termination of the User's browsing session. Specific duration information for each Tracker is provided in the cookie inventory table below.
Applicable Legislation
This Cookie Policy is issued in compliance with:
- Regulation (EU) 2016/679 (General Data Protection Regulation — "GDPR"), in particular Articles 4(11), 7, 12, 13, 14, and 25;
- Directive 2002/58/EC (ePrivacy Directive), as amended by Directive 2009/136/EC;
- Italian Legislative Decree no. 196/2003, in particular Article 122, as amended by Legislative Decree no. 101/2018;
- Guidelines on cookies and other tracking tools adopted by the Italian Data Protection Authority on 10 June 2021, published on 9 July 2021.
Under these regulations, the use of Trackers that are not strictly necessary for the operation of the Service requires the User's prior, informed, specific, and unambiguous consent. Legitimate interest cannot be relied upon as a legal basis for the use of non-essential Cookies or other tracking technologies.
How this Application uses Trackers
Necessary
This Application uses so-called technical Cookies and other similar Trackers to carry out activities that are strictly necessary for the operation or delivery of the Service. These Trackers do not require the User's consent.
| Cookie name | Purpose | Type | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
| cookie_consent | Stores the User's cookie consent preferences so that the consent banner is not shown again on subsequent visits. | First-party, persistent | 6 months |
Note: The cookie name and duration shown above are indicative. Users can verify the exact cookies set on their device through browser settings.
No third-party Trackers are currently in use on this Application.
Categories not currently in use
This Application does not currently use Trackers for the following purposes:
- Functionality — Trackers to enable basic interactions and functionalities (e.g., mailing lists, newsletter services).
- Experience — Trackers to improve user experience and enable interactions with external content, networks, and platforms (e.g., external fonts, embedded media).
- Measurement — Trackers to measure traffic and analyze User behavior (e.g., analytics services).
- Marketing — Trackers to deliver personalized ads or marketing content and to measure their performance (e.g., conversion tracking, retargeting).
Should any of these categories be activated in the future, this Cookie Policy will be updated before any such Trackers are deployed, and the User's consent will be requested where required by law.
How consent is collected and stored
When the User first visits this Application, a cookie banner is displayed. The banner:
- informs the User about the use of Cookies and other Trackers;
- provides an equally prominent option to accept or reject non-essential Trackers;
- includes a link to this Cookie Policy;
- allows closing the banner without giving consent, in which case only strictly necessary Cookies are set.
In accordance with the Italian Garante's guidelines, the consent banner will not be shown again for at least 6 months from the date the User sets their preferences, unless:
- the conditions of the data processing change significantly;
- it is impossible for the Owner to verify that consent was previously given; or
- the User has independently deleted their consent Cookie from their device.
How to manage preferences and withdraw consent
Users can provide or withdraw consent by setting or updating preferences via the privacy choices panel available on this Application. Withdrawal of consent is as easy as giving it.
With regard to any third-party Trackers that may be introduced in the future, Users will be able to manage their preferences via the related opt-out link (where provided), by using the means indicated in the third party's privacy policy, or by contacting the third party.
Browser controls
Users may use their own browser settings to see what Cookies have been set, block Cookies, or clear Cookies from the browser. Browser settings do not generally allow granular control of consent by category.
Users may also manage certain categories of Trackers used on mobile apps by opting out through relevant device settings such as advertising or general tracking settings.
How to opt out of interest-based advertising
Users may follow the instructions provided by YourOnlineChoices, Network Advertising Initiative, Digital Advertising Alliance, DAAC, DDAI, or similar initiatives.
The Digital Advertising Alliance also offers AppChoices to help Users control interest-based advertising on mobile apps.
Consequences of denying the use of Trackers
Users are free to decide whether or not to allow the use of Trackers. However, Trackers help this Application provide a better experience and advanced functionalities in line with the purposes outlined in this document.
If the User chooses to block the use of non-essential Trackers, related features may be unavailable. Denying consent does not prevent access to the Application, and only strictly necessary technical Cookies will be set regardless of the User's choice.
User rights
Under the GDPR, Users have the right to:
- Access personal data and obtain a copy;
- Rectify inaccurate or incomplete personal data;
- Erase personal data (subject to applicable legal obligations);
- Restrict processing under certain conditions;
- Data portability;
- Object to processing;
- Withdraw consent at any time, without affecting prior lawful processing;
- Lodge a complaint with the competent supervisory authority, including the Italian Garante (www.garanteprivacy.it).
To exercise rights, Users may contact the Owner at hello@principled-intelligence.com.
The Owner will respond without undue delay and in any event within one month of receipt. This period may be extended by two further months where necessary, taking into account the complexity and number of requests.
International data transfers
At present, this Application does not transfer personal data outside the European Economic Area (EEA). Should services involving international transfers be introduced in the future, appropriate safeguards under GDPR Chapter V (such as Standard Contractual Clauses or adequacy decisions) will be implemented and this policy will be updated accordingly.
